Label Lens

Read the fine print, made for you.

Point at a label. We'll explain what it means for you.

Or try one of ours

Label Lens reads food labels, medicine boxes and cleaning products, in English or Spanish, and checks them against your allergies, your medications and your diet.

How it works

No sign-up. Just point your camera.

  1. The profile screen, listing a peanut and tree nut allergy, warfarin, and a vegan diet.

    Tell it about you

Allergies, medications, diet and language. It stays on your phone.

  2. The Label Lens home screen with a large Scan a label button and sample labels to try.

    Snap any label

    Food, medicine or household products.

  3. A snack bar photo already named Trailhead Crunch Honey Peanut Bar, with the check against the profile still in progress.

    Instant first read

The product name appears first, while the full check is still running.

  4. The snack bar photo with a red Contains peanuts sticker and other warnings stuck on it.

    Warnings made for you

Color stickers for your allergies and medicines.

  5. An opened Contains peanuts warning that quotes the label: CONTAINS: PEANUTS, SOY.

    Tap for proof

Every sticker shows the exact words from the label.

  6. A follow-up question about the label with its answer written underneath.

    Listen or ask

Hear it read aloud, or ask a follow-up question.

Proof, not guesses

Label Lens

Contains peanuts

The label says

“CONTAINS: PEANUTS, SOY.”

Matches your allergy: peanut

  • Good: Quotes the label
  • Good: Matched to your allergy
  • Good: Severity fits the risk
  • Every warning quotes the label.
  • It never says “vegan” or “allergen-free” unless the label does.
  • Medicine questions always point you to a pharmacist.

Questions, answered.

Is this medical advice?

No. Label Lens explains what a label says in plain language. For anything about medicines, especially mixing them, it tells you to confirm with a pharmacist. If something sounds like an emergency, call your local emergency number or poison control.

Where does my profile go?

Nowhere. Your allergies, medications, diet and language are saved in this browser on your device. There is no account and no database. They are sent along with a photo only so that label can be checked for you.

What kinds of labels work?

Food packaging, medicine boxes and household products like cleaners. Get the ingredients or warnings in frame and as flat as you can.

What if my photo is blurry?

It says so and asks you to take it again, instead of guessing at words it can't read.

How does it avoid making things up?

Every warning has to quote the exact words it came from on the label. The app checks each answer in code before showing it: a warning without a quote is dropped, and an answer that doesn't match the expected format is rejected.

Which languages are supported?

Explanations come in English or Spanish. Pick yours in your profile.

Does it cost anything?

No. It's free, with no account and no ads.
